DIGITAL EXCLUSIVE: Empty bowls for full stomachs

Local News

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The West Texas Food Bank is hosting its 20th annual Empty Bowls event Sunday, January 26, at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Odessa.

For $15, guests will be able to pick out a bowl and eat a warm meal provided by Jason’s Deli and Catfish & Company. Craig Stoker, with the West Texas Food Bank, says purchasing just one bowl can feed up to 60 people who are hungry in the basin.

Pottery students across the basin came together to make special bowls for this year’s event. Christopher Stanley, an art professor at UTPB, says this fundraiser is an excellent way for students to express their creativity as well as give back to the community.

This weekend’s event begins at 11:00 A.M. in the conference center at the downtown Odessa Marriott hotel.
