ODESSA, Texas (Big 2 / Fox 24) – Crossroads Church is mourning the loss one of it’s own. On Thursday night, Kenny Comstock, Executive Pastor, and his wife Melissa Comstock were tragically killed in a car accident in New Mexico.
It was a solemn day Sunday morning at Crossroads Church, as the congregation poured in for its Sunday services. It was the first time the church family gathered following a tragic car crash.
Jeramiah Ramer, Lead Pastor for Crossroads Church, said the loss of Kenny and Melissa Comstock is devastating to the Crossroads community.
“Kenny was one of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met, he loved all people, really dry funny sense of humor, a great leader,” Ramer said. “He’s got three little kids, six, four and one. And his wife, their family. Everyone is family with him and with them and with one another.”
Comstock’s children survived the accident. Even though this loss weighs heavy on the hearts of the church community, Ramer said they are turning to their faith to find the light.
“Today we’re doing what Kenny would want us to do and that is turning people towards Jesus,” Ramer said “The only place we believe people can find hope in the midst of a tragedy, in the midst of the sorrow and sadness like this. We just believe the only place you can turn to is Jesus, so we’re turning to him.”
While healing from this tragedy will take time, Ramer said they will continue to support one another through this pain and remember the lives lost.
“We’re gonna keep lifting up Kenny’s family and Melissa’s family and their children who are still here and praying for them and asking God to be with them and serving them however we can.”
