City Manager says Fort Stockton Police Chief is no longer with the Department

Local News
FORT STOCKTON, Texas (BIG 2/ FOX 24) Change is on the horizon in Fort Stockton after news that the Police Chief, Ryan Skelton, has been removed from his position. ”Never heard any complaints, so yeah it’s a shocker. From what I could see, from the outside looking in, he was a good man you know he was doing good for the City,” says Fort Stockton resident Matthew Gilbert.

Gilbert says he doesn’t follow the Police Department too closely but is surprised the word isn’t out yet.

”He no longer works for the city of Fort Stockton as of yesterday,” says City Manager Ryan Rodriguez.

As for the big question why? The City says they can’t disclose that information. ”The phrase ‘personnel matter’ means a Human Resource and employee related matter. So when it comes to the employee we can’t discuss or share any of that information.”

What they can say is who is currently in charge of the department. ”At this time we are using the current chain of command,
we have a Patrol Lieutenant, the Supervisor Patrol, and then we
have a CID Lieutenant which is a Criminal Intelligence Division
Lieutenant.”
