ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the City of Odessa has decided to close all of its swimming pools and spraygrounds.
City officials say due to the uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus all of the aquatic facilities will be closed for the 2020 Summer.
The City of Odessa issued the following statement regarding the closure:
“This decision was not made lightly, but was made with the safety and well-being of our citizens in mind. Historically, the City’s aquatic centers, pools and spraygrounds have thousands of visitors on a given day, and social distancing is not something that can be practiced in this environment. This new normal we find ourselves in has been difficult to navigate, and so many of our events and traditions have had to be put on hold while the protection of our citizens takes first priority.”
