ODESSA, Texas- Catholic Charities Odessa will host their annual Banquest of Hope at the American Legion on Thursday, March 5, 2020, with featured guest speaker and Vietnam veteran, former DAV Commander Roberto “Bobby” Barrera.
The banquet will be an event to raise awareness and funds to continue the mission of Catholic Charities Odessa, but will also showcase the stories of individuals who overcame odds to provide a better way of life for themselves with help and guidance from Catholic Charities Odessa.
Mr. Barrera is a combat-disabled veteran of the Vietnam War and now travels the U.S. to tell his story and conduct motivational presentations.
His story emphasizes the plight of the American soldier upon returning home from combat and some of the physical and emotional issues they face. He shares his experience during the war including his own personal suffering, acceptance and growth in a moving and positive way.
Catholic Charities Executive Director Sara Aguilar stated that she is excited to show the growth and impact the organization has made in Ector County.
This is Catholic Charities 1 st Banquet since reopening in October of 2018. The Banquet of Hope will take place at the American Legion, 2701 E. 8th Street in Odessa, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Individual tickets are $50.00 and may be purchased at
