MARTIN COUNTY, Texas (Nexstar) – A 64-year-old California man was killed following a crash near Stanton on Monday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Troopers were called to the crash around 5 a.m. Monday morning on Interstate 20, about three miles west of Stanton.
While investigating, troopers learned the driver of a Chevrolet van was headed west on the I-20 shoulder, failed to control his speed, and collided with the back of a semi-truck, the release reads.
Troopers say the driver of the van, Douglas Gold of Atascadero, California, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
