(FOX 24) – Meet three local beauty queens who recently received prestigious titles and they’re all working hard to do their part to “Be Our Change.”
They’re the winners of different divisions of the 2021 Miss West Texas Pageant.
Madyson Gallegos, 16-years-old, won Miss West Texas Teen.
“I was really shocked. I was really surprised that I won cause it was my first time,” said Gallegos. “I do believe there should be more Hispanics standing up for what they believe in, standing up for what’s right.”
The Iraan High School student wants to encourage especially other females, not to be afraid to speak up.
“We try to be peaceful, honest and respectful. We just kind of let more things slide than what we should,” said Gallegos.
Macy Schulze, 21-years-old from Andrews, won Miss West Texas.
“I remember immediately when they announced my name, I was just crying because I immediately thought of him and how proud he would of been of me,” said Schulze.
The Texas A&M student lost her father this year to pancreatic cancer.
“He passed young, but I think he absolutely lived life to the absolute fullest and was loved by so many people,” said Schulze.
Adriana Diaz, 27-years-old of Andrews, won Ms West Texas.
“It was, it was awesome,” said Diaz.
The mother of a 3-year-old daughter spoke only Spanish until she was 7-years-old.
“Anybody can do it. Don’t be embarrassed of your accent,” said Diaz.
They all want to inspire others to fight for their dreams.
Macy Schulze and Madyson Gallegos will go on to compete in Miss Texas USA and Miss Texas Teen USA in Houston.
That will take place Labor Day weekend.
