Basin Bites: Gloria’s Diner

Local News

MIDLAND, Texas (YourBasin) – After Governor Abbott issued executive orders for restaurants to close their doors, Gloria’s Diner had been open for barely a week.

Herard purchased the location a year ago working to expand her catering business, Indulgence Catering. Inside the building also used to be a pharmacy.

After renovating that side of the building, Herard and her crew had to meet additional zoning requirements before receiving her permits.

“So, the following March 2020 came around we were open for nine days and then the whole shutdown happen of the entire state and we were shut down for a little bit and we never bounced back from that,” said owner Kim Herard.

In a Facebook post last week the restaurant called for support from Midlanders as they try to stay afloat.

Joining the taste testing today is morning meteorologist Derek Sibley. The crew chowed down on some tacos, sliders, and potato salad. To satisfy the sweet tooth, banana pudding, and caramel brownie to round out the show.
