Barricaded suspect arrested Friday morning in Midland

MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – A man in Midland, who barricaded himself inside of an apartment Friday morning, has been arrested.

Midland Police say around 1:15 a.m. Friday morning, officers were called to the 3600 block of Midland Drive about a noise complaint.

When they arrived, officers found a man hitting a wall with a hammer and became agitated when he noticed the police officers, according to a released.

Police officials say the man was also armed with a knife and barricaded himself inside of the apartment.

Negotiators and the MPD SWAT team were then called to the scene and managed to get a woman outside of the apartment however, the man remained inside of the home, the release reads.

The SWAT team then used two rounds of gas, prompting the man, later identified as Bacilio Mendoza, to leave the apartment, police say.

Mendoza has since been arrested and charged with unlawful restraint and resisting arrest.
