ODESSA, Texas (Big 2, Fox 24) — Democrats in Austin have created a Political Action Committee trying to campaign against Governor Greg Abbott for the 2022 election, called the Beat Abbott PAC. They currently do not support another candidate.

“This isn’t about left or right this is about doing what’s right.”

Tory Gavito, Board member of Beat Abbott PAC

Republicans here locally are also not happy with the job he has done recently. They claim he has gone too far with his mandates regarding the pandemic, while the Democrats say he hasn’t done enough.

“It’s amazing how you can have some common goals and common enemies but just come at it from two different perspectives, but we as Republicans don’t think Greg Abbott has done a good job protecting our liberty and freedom with the mandates that have been put in place.”

Tim Harry, Local Republican

This is about fighting for all Texans it’s going to take Texans from Midland to Houston to build momentum. It’s going to take Dallas to Brownsville to jump in too. We want to be ready for the next candidate that is going to challenge Abbott.”

Aubrey Mayberry, Ector County Republican Chair 205

According to their slogans are:

  • Work to defeat Greg Abbott’s in the general election in 2022.
  • Expose Gov. Abbott’s failure to defend Texans, and force him to take bolder steps to protect us now.
  • Reach the press to show that Texans won’t tolerate another 4 years of leaders who fail to listen to doctors and scientists.

The Ector County Republicans did say they would support Abbot being reelected, if he wins the nomination.
