ODESSA, TX (Big 2/ Fox 24) – We all had that one dream we wanted to go after when we were young. Well, one Odessa student aspires to open his own restaurant, and by doing so, he’s starting now to raise money to open his business.

11-year-old, Darius Barrientes, also goes by the name “KK,” always had a passion for cooking. Therefore, he’s putting his dreams into action one step at a time.

“When I was seven, it was pretty awesome to cook,” he says. “I’ve seen my parents cook and people on tv cook, and that seems like a pretty fun thing where you can control it, so I wanted to try that out.”

Since there’s no age requirement to earn a certification, KK’s father took action in helping his son aim for his dream.

“My son has been grilling and cooking for years,” Ricky Barrientes says. “He kept mentioning he wanted to start his own business one day.”

KK served at least 300 people when he first began cooking for others, and he says he feels thrilled to help people.

“The thing with my business, it feels amazing. I just love cooking for people and helping people .”I also want to raise money for charity.”
