As state reopens, gas prices rise in Texas

Local News

(Big 2/Fox 24) – As the State of Texas begins to reopen for business, gas prices made a jump for the first time in two months.

According to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is at $1.54.

“More vehicles are on the road, and that is driving gasoline demand up along with prices,” AAA Texas spokesman Daniel Armbruster said in a statement Thursday. “Though, drivers in the Lone Star State and still filling up with significantly less (expensive) gas prices year-over-year and Texas has the 5th lowest gas price average of any state in the U.S.”

Meanwhile, drivers in Midland are still paying the most on average at $1.73, well below the national average of $1.87, according to AAA Texas.
