Arrest made in forgery investigation

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Odessa Police have made an arrest in connection to a forgery investigation.

Brianna Walker has been charged with Forgery. Back on March 16th, officers responded to Murphy USA, Burlington Coat Factory, La Nueva Moda and Journey’s in reference to counterfeit money being used.

According to OPD, Walker attempted to us the fake money at all of the businesses listed above. Officers found $4,000 worth of counterfeit bills inside of Walker’s car, according to Odessa Police.

The Odessa Police Department would like to warn residents and businesses about the recent circulation of counterfeit bills in Odessa.

The Odessa Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is currently investigating several cases involving counterfeit $100 and $50 bills. The Odessa Police Department would like to caution businesses to be careful and check all bills closely. The counterfeit bills are usually thinner and smaller than real bills.

The presidential watermark should be able to be seen when held up to the light on real bills. If anyone has any questions in reference to counterfeit bills they are asked to go to http://www.secretservice.gov/data/KnowYourMoney.pdf or call the Odessa Police Department at 432-335-4961.
