(Nexstar) – The Permian Panthers have a storied history. Mojo has state championships to their name, a nationally known book and movie based on the 88′ team, and recognition nation-wide.
The accolades have landed them on Max Preps’ Greatest All-Time High School Teams.
Specifically, the 1989 Permian Panther team is among other powerhouse programs like the 2005 Southlake Carroll squad and the 2013 Allen team.
The 89’ Panthers featured running back Chris Comer, quarterback Stoney Case who led them to a 5A state championship.
According to Max Preps, the Panthers pitched eight shutouts that season and won all but one game by double-digit points, culminating the season with a 28-14 State Championship win over Aldine.
