2020 Census looks to correct flaws in 2010

The 2020 Census Beaurau held a symposium Thursday to discuss the region’s participation in the group quarter’s system.

Last census, officials estimate the basin was short 25% on representation. A large chunk of that was the homeless population and the people living in man camps working in the oil fields.

The census bureau emphasizes the importance of representing yourself. It could save the Basin a lot of money.

Each person in our county is worth approximately $1,500. You take one person times one year times ten years… that’s a lot of money.

This is the first year people can respond online for their representation. The bureau is also taking technology a step further by creating a map grid.

What our contractor will do is put an electronic fence around those areas. Anyone that drives through, walks through, and has a phone, our census information will pop up
