Local News

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – 134 new Coronavirus cases have been reported in Ector County, according to data from the Ector County Health Department.

The data shows there are currently 5,403 confirmed cases and 3,737 probable cases for a total of 9,140 cases.

Currently, there are 1,691 active cases and the hospitalization rate sits just over 17 percent for the entire trauma service area.

As you may recall, Trauma Service Area J, which includes Midland and Ector Counties, went over the 15 percent hospitalization rate last week prompting counties to move to 50 percent capacity at local businesses, per Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order.

The Trauma Service Area must fall below the 15 percent threshold for seven days for business capacity restrictions to be lifted.

Data also shows there are 151 virus-related deaths and about 7,298 people have recovered from the virus.

The ECHD data shows more than 43,000 people have been tested and 33,770 of those have come back negative, while 661 are currently pending.
