Jeffery Rowland, who had run and won the race for County Constable, has officially resigned.
Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter confirmed the news Monday saying Rowland had submitted a letter of resignation on Friday and it was accepted by commissioners.
County Commissioners are set to appoint his replacement on March 1.
Painter says Midland Police officer Larry Woodruff is expected to resign from the department and become the next constable.
Rowland, has been charged with criminal mischief and tampering with government records, according to prior reports.
