ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/ Fox 24) – Two incidents took place on ECISD campuses Wednesday morning.
The first was at Permian High School where a 9th-grade student was arrested for having a gun in his backpack. A crime stoppers tip led to the discovery and arrest.
Another incident took place at Edward K. Downing Elementary School when a teacher reported hearing gunshots in the area. The students were all taken inside and the school was placed on “lockout” while ECSO and ECISD police investigated. No suspicious activity was found and the school ended the lockout.
ECISD spokesman Mike Adkins said in a statement, “We continue to say – “if you see something, say something” is the most critical element in keeping our schools and our community safe.”
