UPDATE: Claims of gunman Permian unsubstantiated, city says

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Officials with Ector County ISD have provided more information on the situation over at Permian.

Officials say a fire alarm was pulled at the school. While an evacuation was underway, district officials say rumors had spread about an emergency inside of the school. However, that emergency has not been confirmed.

At this time, several law enforcement agencies are at the campus.

“It appears to be just rumors that have spread rapidly,” a release from the district reads.


City officials say Odessa Fire/Rescue and Odessa Police have also responded to Permian High School.

Additionally, City officials say a gunman was reported at the school, but those claims have not been substantiated.
