AUSTIN, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) A bill aimed at fighting human trafficking is headed to the Governor’s desk.

House Bill 888, would make it a crime to misrepresent a minor as a family member to law enforcement at a port of entry.

I am proud to take this important step in ensuring that children don’t fall victim to such a grave violation of human rights, Landgraf said.

The bill, which does not include provisions to Medicaid benefits, is now headed to Abbott’s desk for approval.

If signed, HB 888 would take effect Sept. 1, 2019.
