A night full of music, raffle tickets, dinner and first responders. For our local Law Enforcement this event means much more.

Sgt. Jimmy Young from the Midland Police Department saying  “we’re lucky to live in West Texas because Texas really supports law enforcement and our committee worked really hard to get this going.”

The 6th annual Bustin’ for Badges event kicking off Thursday. Each department: Midland Police Department and Sheriffs Office as well as the Odessa Police Department and Ector County Sheriffs Office benefitting from the fundraiser. All four agencies will equally split the money raised by the community.

“I mean with this money it helps us buy things that we really really need,” says Young.

Sgt. Jimmy Young adds MPD will use the extra funds to buy robots that they can send out  when they get a call to check out the surrounding areas.

Sgt. Jimmy Young says “sometimes that money isn’t in the budget so with the Bustin’ for Badges money it helps us get those items.”

Sheriff Griffis says he has an idea on how Ector County will be using the money also

“This money will help us buy things that arent normally budgeted. Extra bullet proof vest’s, extra amunition, extra weapons’

The dinner also included a concert for those who attended.
