Midland-native and Kansas track star Bryce Hoppel wrapped up an undefeated season with a National Championship in the 800-meter run.
Hoppel ran a personal best 1:44.41 in the 800M to win the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field national title. The win marked Hoppel’s 19th win in an individual event this season, giving him a perfect 19-0 record in individual races.
Hoppel also won the 800-meter run in the indoor championships, making him the fifth male athlete in the last ten years to win both the indoor and outdoor races.
The Midland-High graduate is the first Jayhawk to win the 800M race.
