Hobbs Police charge man in shooting investigation

HOBBS, New Mexico (Big 2/Fox 24) - One man is facing charges after police say he admitted to shooting another man during an argument on Monday night.

Hobbs Police say they were called to the shooting around 400 block of Cecil Street.

At the scene officers found Jeremiah Oliver with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the release.

He is currently listed in serious condition at a Lubbock hospital.

After officers arrived on scene, a man reportedly called the Lea County Communication Authority and admitted to the shooting.

Officers responded to Timothy Williams home where he handed over the gun to police, according to a release.

Investigators later learned that Williams had gotten into an argument with Oliver about a boy listed as a runaway, police say.

The argument then reportedly escalated.

Police have since charged Williams with aggravated battery and aggravated assault.
