Hobbs hires new police chief


HOBBS, New Mexico (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Hobbs Police department has officially hired a new chief of police.

John Ortolano has been selected and has accepted, the position with the city.

“Former Chief McCall and Acting Chief of Police Dunlap have positioned the department for its next steps, and it is my opinion that John Ortolano has strong proven management systems, and culture changing leadership skills to sustain and expand that work,” Acting City Manager Manny Gomez said in a statement.

Ortolano is currently a Captain with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and has served with the agency for 21-years, according to a release from the City of Hobbs.
