Midland Health Department receives 200 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine

MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Midland Health Department has received 200 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

The State of Texas is starting Phase 1B for vaccine distribution and the vaccine is available for healthcare workers, Texans over the age of 65 and people with medical conditions that put them at greater risk.

Medical conditions include but not limited to:

  • Cancer
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Heart conditions
  • Solid organ transplantation
  • Obesity and severe obesity
  • Pregnancy
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Type 2 diabetes melitus.

On December 30, those who choose to receive the vaccine can call 432-681-7613 or go to http://www.midlandtexas.gov/forms.aspx?FID=159 to schedule an appointment.

Vaccinations will be scheduled starting the week of January 4.
