Digital Exclusive: COVID-19 antibody testing available at MCH

Coronavirus

UPDATE: Results for my antibody came back and I tested negative antibodies.

Looking at the time stamp, my results were available three to five hours after getting tested. Though technical issues occurred in delaying me getting my results.

ODESSA, Texas (YourBasin) – Medical Center Hospital is offering the COVID-19 antibody test.

The test costs $20 and the purpose is to let you know if you have been exposed to COVID and have developed an immune response.

The antibody test will be available for the foreseeable future as the Permian Basin continues to combat the on going pandemic.

According to Debra Vessels, Patient Service Center Manager at MCH, turn around time for results is about three to five hours.

I personally made an appointment online and went through the process of getting a test for antibodies. After filling out my name and phone number, I received a call just a few minutes after hitting submit.

Upon arriving at Regional Laboratory I was give a form to fill out for record purposes.

Afterwards, I was taken back to a room to confirm my status of being there.

Moments later I was poked by a needle, drawing my blood. I turned my head because I am terrified of needles.

But, I did not even feel the needle and in about 30 seconds it was over.

Debra Vessels helped me set up an account for their online portal which allows my antibody results which I still haven’t received as of yet.

If you would like to take an antibody test you can click here to fill out the short form for an appointment.
