Former Midland Lee football player faces multiple charges in deadly shooting

DESOTO, Texas (ABC Big 2/Fox 24) – Former Midland Lee wide receiver Evan McMaryion faces multiple charges following a deadly shooting in DeSoto earlier this month.

According to DeSoto police, 19-year-old McMaryion has been arrested and charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after an attempted carjacking.

34-year-old Midlothian resident Randall Thornhill and 29-year-old Midlothian resident Heather French were dropping off French’s five-year-old son, according to affiliate Fox 4. That is when the carjacking was attempted and McMaryion fatally shot Thornhill and injured French.

Police tracked McMaryion to Arizona, where he was being held on a separate charge.

McMaryion graduated Lee in 2020 and played wide receiver.
