MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Fix West Texas is working to save animals from death row with free adoptions.

The organization is partnering with Midland Animal Shelter by paying the cost of the adoption fee.

The initiative comes after a petition circulated on social media to make Midland a no kill city.

Fix West Texas president hopes the incentive will drive people to adopt.

“We’re really encouraging people to come down to the animal shelter and take advantage of the free adoptions this week. If you don’t have the sixty-five dollars up front for the adoption fee, contact us through Facebook or email and we’ll meet you down here. We want to make it happen,” said Fix West Texas President Karen Patterson.

Patterson says the program will continue as long as funds are available.

You can visit Fix West Texas Facebook page or email registration@fixwesttexas.org for details on adoption.
