A fallen Ector County Sheriff’s Deputy will be honored in Washington D.C. during National Police Week.
Deputy Thad West will have his named added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in May during the 29th annual Candlelight Vigil in May, according to the ECSO.
Deputy West was killed in the line of duty back in 1958. Officials say West was responding to a called of a couple trying to sell a baby girl, according to the release.
West reportedly arrived at the scene and was shot by a man inside of an apartment.
A manhunt then ensued for the suspect, G.F. Jack McMichael, who was killed during a shootout with police.
