One man is facing charges after authorities say he stole his mothers vehicle and was found with the keys on Friday.
Back on Jan. 31 a woman told deputies with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office that someone had taken her car and that her son may have been involved according to a release from the office.
The woman reportedly told deputies that her son, Ruben Martinez Chavez Jr. had asked to use the car earlier that day and was told no.
On Saturday, deputies were flagged down by the owner of the vehicle who said Chavez Jr. was seen in the car on 64th and Flamingo, according to the release.
Deputies went to the area and located the Ford pickup in the parking lot of a gas station and reportedly found Chavez Jr. with the keys.
He was then arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Chavez Jr. was being held at the Ector County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
