ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Ector County ISD Board of Trustees will meet this week to discuss the superintendent position.

As you may recall, the district named Dr. Scott Muri as the lone finalist for the position back on April 23.

Muri is the former Superintendent of Spring Branch ISD in the Houston area.

“I want to be a part of a group of people that believe fundamentally that all children deserve greatness and that all children can achieve greatness in their lives. I felt that here,” Muri said after being named the finalist.

The district has been in the process of finding a new superintendent since September of 2018.

Former Superintendent Tom Crowe officially resigned from the district on Sept. 1 and the Board of Trustees appointed Jim Nelson to serve on an interim basis.

Since the resignation, the district has been in the process of finding a suitable replacement to lead ECISD moving forward.

The extensive search has included between 60 and 70 candidates, which was later narrowed to three.

ECISD also reached out to the community asking for their input via a survey, regarding the qualities they want to see in a superintendent.

On Tuesday night, the board will vote to approve Muri as the next Superintendent, discuss his contract and relocation agreement.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at the ECISD Board Room, 802 N. Sam Houston.
