DPS: Suspect crashes following chase in Odessa

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Texas Department of Public Safety, along with the Odessa Police Department, are currently on scene of a crash in south Odessa.

DPS officials say the crash was the end result of a chase that began earlier this after. While details are limited at this time, DPS officials say the suspect led troopers on a chase, crashed in the area of Marland and Gulf Street, and tried to run from the scene.

Law enforcement officials working the scene say one person has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.

As the chase was going on, ECISD officials say three schools were in lockout. Schools included, Milam, Carver and Blackshear were all in lockout. District officials say the lockout lasted about 10 minutes.
