HOWARD COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – A 27-year-old Del Rio man was killed following a rollover crash near Coahoma Monday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Troopers were called to the crash around 11:40 a.m. Monday on Interstate 20, about three miles east of Coahoma.

While investigating, troopers learned that Paul Escobedo was headed east on I-20 in a Ford F-350 pickup and exited to the service road at an unsafe speed, according to the report.

Escobedo then lost control of the vehicle, overcorrected and rolled; officials say.

He was taken to Medical Center Hospital with incapacitating injuries, the report reads.

A passenger in the pickup, Luis Pena, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the report.

DPS officials say Pena was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
