ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Crews with Odessa Fire/Rescue are battling grass fires that sparked overnight in Ector County.
Officials say the fires are actually four separate fires that occurred in the same area near Notrees near Highway 302 and Farm Road 307.
Officials say they believe the fires were started by lightning strikes.
Several units and crews responded to the fires overnight and officials with the City of Odessa say they requested resources from the state. However, no state resources were available to assist.
Two of the fires, as of midnight Friday, were under control, the third was 90 percent contained and the fourth was still out of control, according to a release. We are working to gather an update on the fires.
