EDDY COUNTY, NM (Big 2/Fox 24) – Tuesday morning at about 6 AM, New Mexico State Police were called to a two-vehicle crash on US 285 near mile marker 64, south of Artesia.
According to NMSP, the investigation showed that an SUV driven by Kaylin Sunshine Hester of Midland was traveling north on the highway. She struck the trailer of a semi-truck that was turning onto southbound US 285.
Hester was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi and his passenger were not hurt.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts were used. The crash remains under investigation.
