ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – After years of planning, construction is set to begin on the University widening project. Officials with the City of Odessa say construction will begin between Andrews Highway and Grandview Avenue on Monday.
The project aims to widen the roadway to five lanes and include new gutters, curbs, pavement and sidewalks.
During the construction, crews will block lanes going east and west. However, city officials say one lane will remain open in either direction. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes and avoid the area if possible.
During the project, the speed limit will also be reduced to 30 miles per hour in the construction zone.
