Repairs continue on the Balmorhea State Park Pool, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

On Saturday, the department announced that contractors began demolishing concrete paving around the high diving platform this week.

They say the crews are working to cut the concrete away from the historic limestone pillars.

The estimated $2 million repairs are expected to take several months to complete, due to the sensitivity of the site and the presence of endangered species.

They say hand demolition and removal will be required for all materials.

The initial announcement about the closure was made back on May 10.
