Officials with the Odessa Fire Marshal’s office say the cause of a fire that claimed the life of a young child is still undetermined.
According to a release from the OFR, “investigators cannot rule out combustibles to close to a heat source, extension cord, and/or children playing with a space heater.”
The fire was called out at about 2:36 p.m. Jan. 29 at 1408 Lauderdale Ave. in Odessa.
A responding police officer was injured in the fire and has since been released from Medical Center Hospital.
