Building destroyed by wildfire in Big Bend National Park

A wildfire in Big Bend National Park has destroy a historic building, park officials announced Thursday.

According to the Park, the Wildland Fire, which has burned 50 acres within the park, also destroyed the historic barracks.

The barracks housed the Castolon Visitor Center the La Hermonia Store, office quarters and restroom facilities.

Since the fire, Old Maverick Road, Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive and River Road West from Buenos Aires to Castolon.

Meanwhile, Park officials say the Wildland Fire is still burning and recently jumped the Rio Grande.
