The scene is clear and Police say there was never a threat to the area.
Police responded to the Dollar General located at 1657 North County Road West after being notified of a bomb threat.
The OPD Bomb Squad Unit arrived at the scene around 7 p.m. During their investigation they were told a man walked up and placed a suitcase on the sidewalk, then told a customer the suitcase contained a bomb.
When the man left the scene, the customer told a clerk at The Dollar General nearby, and the clerk called police.
Odessa Police are now asking the witness who left the scene to call OPD or Odessa Crime Stoppers.
