Robert Fabian, the lone suspect in the case of missing Sul Ross State student Zuzu Verk, had a bond hearing Monday morning.
Alpine Police officials say his bond was set at $500,000 with conditions.
One of the stipulations of Fabian’s bond is that that if he makes bond, he must report daily to the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office.
Fabian was arrested over the weekend and charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence after human remains were found in a shallow grave just outside of Alpine.
Officials say the remains are consistent with Fabian’s former girlfriend Zuzu Verk although official identification is still pending.
The remains have been sent to the University of North Texas for Identification and authorities say they expect the identity by today or Tuesday.
