BIG SPRING, Texas (Nexstar) – Big Spring Police have released the preliminary autopsy results in the death of 46-year-old John Henry who died following a dog attack last week.

That report says Henry died of a heart attack, and investigators believe the heart attack was caused by the dog attack.

On May 11, Big Spring Police responded to a disturbance call in the 1100 block of E 13th Street. Upon arrival, police saw a dog attacking Henry and two others who were trying to get the dog to stop.

Henry was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center where he later died.

Police say the dog responsible for the attack has been surrendered by the owner and will be put down.

The investigation into the attack is still on-going.
