MIDLAND, Texas (Nexstar)- Big Brothers Big Sisters is set to launch its first Read to Succeed program this summer for children Kindergarten through 6th grade.

Sessions will pair children in small groups with volunteers to work on reading skills and comprehension. Groups will be paired based on reading level.

Reading for Success is free and will run from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from June 22-July 29 at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office at 714 W. Louisiana.

Books and snacks will be provided, and parents are welcome to stay and participate in reading activities.

“Our vision is that children will achieve their full potential, and reading is an essential element towards that success,” said Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director. “We were discussing what we could do, as an organization, to help ensure our mission is achieved. A reading program was the natural result of that discussion.”

Parents wishing to enroll their child in the program can do so by email no later than 6:00 p.m. June 15.
