MIDLAND, TX (Nexstar)- Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Permian Basin are in need of volunteers. Nearly 40 local children are waiting to be matched with the right Big Brother or Big Sister that aligns with their intrests and hobbies.
The mission of the Big Brothers Big Sisters is to create and support relationships between mentors and mentees that ignite the power and promise of tomorrow’s youth. For more than a century, Big Brothers Big Sisters have made a long-lasting impact on the lives of young people.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a purpose driven organization.
For only a couple times a month, you’re influence on another child could make a significant impact on their life. Big Brothers Big Sisters main focus is to provide children ages 6 to 18 with safe and effective guidance through mentorship and friendship.
Either in a traditional Community-Based Mentoring Program or School-Based Mentoring Program, mentors are able to serve each young adult that’s a part of the organization.
One thing that all Little Brothers and Little Sisters looking for their Big’s have in common is the need for friendship and mentorship.
The Resource Development Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Permian Basin tells us,
“Everyone wants to feel special and that’s what a Big Brother or a Big Sister does..they come into your life and they spend that time with you one on one and make you feel like a big deal.”
Dylan Stone, board member and Big Brother, told us how great his experience has been being a Big Brother to his Little Jaden.
“My Little Jaden and I have been matched since 2017 and it’s always funny…you know when you’re meant to match with somebody when you’re intrests align perfectly.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Permian Basin are asking the community to be a part of changing a young persons life.
