BIG BEND, Texas (Nexstar)- Big Bend area law enforcement agencies kept busy last weekend with illegal migrant activity across the region.

Sunday, Brewster County Sheriff’s Office deputies found an illegal migrant walking along FM 170 near Lajitas General Store. That migrant was arrested and turned over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for processing and deportation back to Mexico, according to a Facebook post.

Big Bend Sector agents in Van Horn, with help from the Sierra Blanca horse patrol, arrested a large group of undocumented migrants. Big Bend agents say daily arrests of undocumented migrants are still on the rise.

In Marfa, Presidio County Sheriff’s deputies arrested several after a high-speed pursuit. According to a Facebook post, deputies attempted to stop a 2007 black Ford Escape on Highway 90 between Alpine and Marfa. The driver eventually pulled over 6 miles east of Marfa.

PCSO says the driver and another passenger, both U.S. citizens, were transporting 11 illegal migrants in the vehicle. The driver and passenger were both arrested and will be charged by federal authorities, the 11 migrants have been transferred to CBP for processing.
