Big Bend agents seize more than 1500 pounds of marijuana near immigration checkpoint

ALPINE, Texas (Nexstar)- Saturday, Big Bend National Border Patrol agents encountered two vehicles parked south of the Texas State Highway 385 Immigration Checkpoint. 

After agents spoke with the drivers of the vehicles, they requested a K-9 unit from the Texas Department of Public Safety to perform an inspection of the vehicles. 

The K-9 alerted to both vehicles and a thorough search was conducted. 

Agents found and seized 1,558 pounds of marijuana. 

Two men were transported to the Alpine Border Patrol for processing.
