ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/ Fox 24)- It’s going to be a night full of hope and healing for those in West Texas. After months of preparation, the Basin Strong Organization is just a day away from their dinner and benefit concert for those affected by the mass shooting.

“Just another great example of what a tight community the Basin area Midland Odessa is and I’m very very honored to be here along with Clay,” says Singer Rick Trevino who will be a part of Thursday’s event.

According to the honorary chair of Basin Strong, Sondra Eoff, “at the Odessa Marriott at 5 o’clock and it will be a cocktail hour, dinner there will be several of the survivors that are here that are victims of the shooting last year.”

That event also including music, a silent auction and app set up for people to make donations. Meanwhile, across town starting at 5:30 pm La Hacienda will host a dinner and concert with Rick Trevino and Clay Walker.

“Because of my participation with Los Super Seven, Los Lobos, there’s a lot of songs that are either in Spanish to pay tribute to all the Latinos here in the Midland Odessa area. It’s a Country show for me and there is also a big Tex-Mex flavor so I’m looking forward to it,” says Trevino.

He also took time Wednesday afternoon to meet the first responders in the Permian Basin.

“The bravery of these officers and these firefighters, I was stunned by the bravery and the courage.”

Sondra says she looks forward to the night of healing for her community and one last opportunity for people to make donations before the Chamber of Commerce distributes the funds later this month.

“It impacted the entire community and just felt like whatever we can do to give back and to help those victims.”
