Bartender ready for reopen after months without work

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – If you look inside Ten Four Lounge you’ll see stacked chairs, empty tip jars, and vacant pool tables.

Valerie Corey, one of the bartenders said, “Once I had to stay at home it’s been really hard. And knowing that there wasn’t really money coming in, having to be away from what I’ve done basically my whole life it’s been really hard.”

Corey has been a bartender for years, 8 of them right here in Odessa at Ten Four Lounge.

“I’m super excited to get back to it and see all of our customers, our regulars, especially our regulars they’re our bread and butter and they’ve all stayed really close to us and texting us and just really wanting us to open. The only thing I’m nervous about is the stipulations as far as the 6-feet and you know no touching or whatever that’s what i’m nervous about,” she said.

Corey adding she worries about how the twenty-five percent capacity rule will affect her tips but for right now she is just grateful she has something to come back to.

“Yeah I’ve thought about that over the last couple of days that you know it’s not going to be back to normal but I mean a little bit is better than nothing so I just have to find the positive. I know a lot of people are not able to go back to their jobs as far as bartenders because you know their bar didn’t make it but i’m very grateful for what we have here and our Ten Four family is very strong,” said Corey.

Ten Four Lounge will be opening up Thursday at midnight, Friday at 12 a. m.,  they say they want to open as soon as possible.
