Arrest made in armed robbery case

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – One suspect has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred over the weekend in Odessa.

Odessa Police say Jovanni Martinez turned himself in on Tuesday night. He has since been charged with aggravated robbery.

The investigation began back on July 7 when officers were called to DK at 10th and Dixie Boulevard. While investigating, officers learned that two men entered the store, took items and assaulted the clerk, according to a release.

About an hour later, the suspects returned to the same store, stabbed the clerk and took more merchandise, police say. The suspects then reportedly drove away from the scene in a 4-door sedan driven by a woman.

Police officials say they are still looking for the second suspect in the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPD at 432-333-3641 or the Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.
