VALENTINE, Texas (Nexstar)- Agents from Van Horn, Marfa, and Big Bend Sector with the help of CBP Air and Marine Operations found a group of more than 50 undocumented migrants west of Valentine, Texas.
On Tuesday, agents responded to a remote area near the U.S./Mexico border and arrested the group shortly after they crossed the international boundary. The group consisted of undocumented migrants from Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, El Salvador, Brazil and Honduras.
In addition to that group, Big Bend Sector agents intercepted multiple human smuggling attempts that totaled more than 130 illegal migrant arrests in the Van Horn area of responsibility for the day.
“Our agents responded quickly and apprehended this large group in the harsh, unforgiving desert in over 100-degree temperatures,” said Big Bend Sector Chief Patrol Agent Sean L. McGoffin. “Smugglers control where and how these border crossings take place, putting human lives at risk every day.”
All were processed according to Big Bend Sector protocols.
